We also work directly with rural municipalities on public charging infrastructure, and we’re building expertise in heavy transportation and agricultural applications as those sectors begin to electrify.

Great question! Most EVs come with a standard 120V “trickle charge” cable, but that alone isn’t enough for most owners.
A few real reasons to install a dedicated charger:
Charge Time. A 120V outlet adds roughly 5-8 km of range per hour. A Level 2 charger adds 20-40 km per hour — the difference between “plugged in overnight, ready by morning” and “still not full after two days.”
Lower cost to charge. Manitoba has some of the lowest electricity rates in Canada, and Manitoba Hydro offers discounted overnight rates built specifically for EV charging — so a home charger usually costs less per km than gas ever did.
Convenience. Wake up to a full charge every day. No detours, no waiting at a public station.
Property value. A properly installed charger is a real selling feature as more Manitobans go electric — especially in a province where EasyEV has already installed first-ever chargers in 19+ communities.

We try to keep the Installation process as easy as possible.

Installation times vary based on permit acquisition and the complexity of each property.
Some considerations are:
- Does your electrical panel need to be upgraded? A larger panel will cost more, and will add time to the installation – installing new equipment, wiring/rewiring, etc.
- Does your electrical service need to be upgraded?
- Age of your home (How much needs to be upgraded?)
- Does the install location need any additional construction (e.g. concrete pad, any housing structure)

Yes. EasyEV manages every project from initial quote through permitting and final commissioning, and all on-site electrical work is carried out by our licensed, certified electrical installation partners, in full compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code and Manitoba Hydro’s requirements.
Yes, a permit is required for all EVSE installations. We handle the entire permit process for you.
EasyEVInstall is Manitoba’s first dedicated EVSE installation service. We’ll take care of the entire process, saving you time.
Larger or more complex installations often require engineered electrical drawings to pass permit inspections with Manitoba Hydro or the City of Winnipeg. EasyEV can help you with this process.
This is where it gets tricky, but we are to help you out.
We’ll assess your panel and recommend the most cost-effective solution, whether it’s upgrading the panel or finding an alternative.
The installation of a larger panel will cost more regardless of the age of your home, due to the work involved. You might require:
- A new panel
- Rewiring of the breakers
- Electrical upgrade to the house (generally for older homes)
If this is the case, then you would have to ensure things are brought up to code.
Not such a big deal on a newer home, but can become costly for older houses.

Yes, you can!
EasyEV can install our units to the exterior of your house or building, even on a post or at a location to suit your needs. Grizzl-e and their robust designs are made for our harsh elements and will out-preform its competitors outdoors.
We need to get power to your garage on a circuit that can safely handle your car’s needs.
Generally speaking, if you do not have electrical service to your garage with a sub-panel or a circuit capable of handing your charging needs, you may need to have one installed by running a line from your main panel.
This represents additional hardware and labour, which will increase the cost of installation.
Manitoba does allow homeowners to pull a permit and do their own electrical wiring on their primary residence. However, an EV charging circuit still has to pass the same inspection and Canadian Electrical Code requirements as professionally installed work, and most homeowner-wired panels weren’t sized with a 40+ amp continuous EV load in mind. Professional installation isn’t required by law, but it comes with proper load calculations, code-compliant permitting, and a warrantied installation — which is why most homeowners choose to have it done professionally.

EVSE stands for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment. Contrary to what you think or have heard, the EVSE is not actually a “charger,” but rather electrical equipment that regulates the energy flowing to your car.
The charger is actually inside each car!
Yes, we offer a variety of Charger units. We can also install units purchased elsewhere, but we won’t be responsible for warranty or compatibility issues.
Absolutely.
EasyEV can honor the warranty of the unit only, up to the limits of installation.
We do not encourage installations without permits, or installations completed by an unlicensed and/or uninsured electrician. Please be cautious with this option.

Although we cannot help you with warranty, defects, compatibility issues and other such potential problems when the unit is purchased from a third party.

Yes, we can! Multi-unit residential is one of our fastest-growing service areas.
We work directly with property managers and condo boards to assess your building’s electrical capacity and figure out the best approach for your parking structure.
It depends on your building.
Some condo corporations install shared charging as a building amenity. In other cases, individual owners fund their own dedicated charger with board approval. EasyEV can work with whichever structure fits your building, and help identify rebate programs that may apply.
Yes, this is called “EV-ready” infrastructure, and it’s usually the smarter, more cost-effective route.
Instead of wiring every stall up front, we install the electrical capacity and conduit backbone for the whole lot. Individual chargers then get added stall-by-stall as residents request them, without repeated, disruptive electrical work down the road.

Yes. We work with commercial properties across Manitoba — retail, hospitality, office, and industrial sites — installing everything from a single Level 2 unit for employees to multi-port stations for customers.

EasyEV has installed the first-ever EV charger — Level 2 or DC fast charging (DCFC) — in 19 Manitoba communities and counting. We regularly work with rural municipalities on public charging projects.
A few key things: how many people will use it (which affects whether Level 2 or DCFC makes sense), how much electrical capacity your site has, parking layout and accessibility, and whether you’ll charge a fee or offer it free. We walk through all of this with you during a site visit.
The Canadian Electrical Code treats EV charging as a continuous load, which means the charging circuit can only be loaded to 80% of the breaker’s rating — not 100% — to account for the multi-hour charging sessions EV charging involves. In practice, this means a 40-amp charger needs a 50-amp breaker and properly sized wiring, not a 40-amp breaker run at its limit. It’s a key reason commercial panel capacity and load calculations need to be reviewed by a licensed electrician before installation, especially when adding multiple charging stations to an existing building.

Manitoba & Canada EV Rebates
Yes. The Manitoba Electric Vehicle Rebate Program offers $4,000 toward a new eligible EV, $2,500 toward a pre-owned EV, and $1,000–$4,000 on eligible leases. The vehicle needs an MSRP under $70,000 and must be purchased or leased through a Manitoba dealership. This program was extended in Manitoba’s 2026 budget — check the Manitoba government’s EV Rebate page for the current end date and funding status before you buy.
Yes. The federal Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) launched February 16, 2026, offering up to $5,000 for eligible battery-electric vehicles and $2,500 for plug-in hybrids. The good news: this can generally be combined with Manitoba’s provincial rebate, so eligible buyers can stack both.
Manitoba Hydro offers financing — not a rebate — of up to $3,000 per charger through its Home Energy Efficiency Loan. No down payment, repaid right on your Hydro bill. One requirement: the charger has to be installed by a licensed electrician with a permit, which is how EasyEV does every job anyway.
Yes, regularly — funding caps get reached, programs get extended or paused, and rules get updated.
